  1. In your draft ebook, in Microsoft Word doc, move the first page down (i.e the page on which you have the book title and author name) to the second page to ensure the first page is blank
  2. Search for an image already stored on your pc and upload it unto the blank page

How to Monetise YouTube Videos

Note*. This post has been updated.

Monetising YouTube Videos
Monetising YouTube Videos

Monetising a YouTube video goes with its optimisation and promotion.   Any new video has zero views and zero subscribers.

These start building up through organic search and as the video gets more views.   However, a video based on a trending issue or helpful topic can go viral instantly.  Views and subscribers can also be increased through sharing and engagement on other platforms.  It is advisable to enable monetization after several videos have been uploaded into your channel.

Ways to Promote and Monetise your Video

Promoting your video helps to attract leads, views, and sales as more people see, like and gain value from it.

Several ways of monetising your video are through:

  1. partnering with YouTube through AdSense, by allowing adverts to be placed on the video.
Like any AdSense programme, producing good videos with helpful content in your niche is required.

Payment depends on how viewers interact with the adverts. If you already have an AdSense account, associate it with your YouTube account create a new AdSense account for your video channel.

Steps to enable Monetisation

Before you enable monetisation, ensure that all your videos comply with the terms that YouTube specifies.

  • Under channel settings, (in your YouTube channel) go to monetisation,
  • Add a related AdSense account or create a new one.
  • Select the type of ads you’d like and
  • Add your billing info

Other ways of Monetisation

  1. Daily Motion videos are also monetised through advertisements;
  2. making a review video of your own product and products of companies you are affiliated with
  3. making a Facebook Fan Pages, and other social media to share videos;
  4. linking out to other channels and groups in your niche by joining and interacting with members;
  5.  using video SEO to rank the video on the first page in order to attract more traffic
  6. advertising your video using Google Ad words.

You don’t need a website to have a video channel but linking a website to your video channel increases visitors to your website and other benefits associated with it.

Try the various video types, like live streaming, animated gifs, explainer videos etc. and make more of the ones that resonate with your audience.

Suggested Resource

You may buy a mic to enhance the sound of your videos.

Additionally,  also find out how Screencastomatic works. First, go to Screencastomatic.com and set up an account.  Then download and launch the software onto the desktop of your pc or laptop.  A maximum length of five to 15-minutes videos is allowed for the standard version.

Steps to follow:

  • Find and save free images related to the video or storyline you have in mind from Google. (add free to use to your search term).  You can also use any personal video recordings you already have.
  • Screencastomatic records anything on your screen. Position or enlarge the recording area of Screencastomatic on your video or images one after the other,  as you want it to appear in the new recording.  Click record after the countdown to begin recording.
  • You can add sound or audio by recording (your voice) directly into Screencastomatic or use the sound recorder on your pc.

There are tutorials on Screencastomatic for your guidance.   Audacity is another free software for recording sound.  Apart from what’s found in the YouTube creator studio, there are several free instrumental and background music sites available online to download for your use.

Making marketing videos to upload on YouTube involves the use of paid tools as well, most of which can be obtained from techsmith.com, and adobe creative suite and many others.  These tools make the process easier and faster.

When completed, upload the video onto YouTube as a draft and add enhancements to it from the Creator Studio.  Features of the new YouTube Creator Studio can be found  here:

How to Customise YouTube Video

Click information  and settings in the Creator Studio and under basic info, put in your
– title
– a description of what the video is about
– tags, and

–  keywords from the video which should also be in the title and body

On the video, ask viewers to like, comment and subscribe to your channel.
After the enhancements, change the setting from unlisted or private to public.

YouTube Page Cover

Also in your dashboard, add a channel page cover which, should reflect the type of videos you will  publish.
Again, you can use both free or paid tools from image creation and editing software like canva.com, pic monkey  etc. to make your YouTube channel cover.

Get views and subscribers

After doing all this, publicise or promote your video to get more views, by sharing it on the various social media and video sites.

Work on Fiverr as a Freelancer

How to work on Fiverr
How to work on Fiverr

Fiverr was started in 2009 as a freelance site.   It is a large market place where people search for all sorts of services to sell or buy.  Sellers indicate a task to perform for the payment of initial $5; hence the name Fiverr.  Jobs performed are known as Gigs.   It is a site for freelancers to expand their services and build a reputation in their niche.

A perfect gig on Fiverr could be something you can do literally in a few minutes or hours, but which a lot of other people cannot do.   There is the need to study the platform to find out what others are offering so as to know what service you can offer.

The most important principles required on Fiverr are:

  • truth
  • respect, and
  • professionalism

As you undertake one skill successfully, you can add other skills you have as well.

It is allowed to hire other freelancers on Fiverr to do aspects of the tasks in order to save yourself time.

Working on Fiverr is not a matter of paying peanuts for monkeys; as you go through various levels, and augment your services.   Charges can go up to between $100 and $500 for high-level sellers.

Fiverr Payment

Sellers share 20% of the funds with Fiverr.

Payment is only through Paypal and Payoneer.

Waiting time is 14 days

  • When buyers do not know what they want, guide them, but do what is only worth your time.
  • Take time to discuss the details of the project well in advance, and ask the buyer for references where necessary.
  • Estimate your required price and be clear with the buyer about all the terms that the order includes before going ahead with the work.
  • Good images must be provided by the buyer,  to avoid unlimited revisions that cause delays; nor  worth the price set for the gig

Facts about Branded Products like T’shirts

April 1, 2020 By Irene Leave a Comment

How do you make a Branded T-shirt?

Words and artwork that motivate, give good-will and encouragement are put on branded products like t-shirts,

Branded T-shirt
Branded T-shirt

mugs, etc. to form a niche with a targeted audience. The niche could be

  • religious quotes,
  • popular sayings of a group,
  • attributes of professional groups like nurses,
  • students,
  • sports enthusiasts,
  • humorous and motivational quotes,
  • popular or trending slogans etc.

The writing on t-shirts and mugs also reaches out to people just like ebooks because people are gaining relevant information and adding value to their lives.

Making a design for t-shirts and other products has become a profitable side income or full-time work online. Some marketers also donate all or part of the income generated to charity.

Products that are branded with artwork and text

  • T’shirts,
  • mugs,
  • key hooks,
  • caps,
  • tote bags,
  • sports/travelling bags,
  • cosmetic cases,
  • jewellery bags,
  • hoodies,
  • coasters,
  • umbrellas,
  • slippers, and gifts

are some of the products that are branded with artwork and text.

It is necessary to target a specific group or audience for such a project. Niches are divided into trend-based (seasonal like Christmas, Easter, festivals, etc.) or evergreen – based on things that are constant e.g. moms, dads, professions, birthdays, etc. There are also several sub-niches of these broad niches, for example, teenagers who love football

To start, choose a niche as always, based on an interest shared by several other people. Make a search by checking on sites and social media pages for the same niche and see which designs have much engagement or likes. You can also check the websites that produce t-shirts for possible designs. A few of such companies and platforms are;

  • cafe press.com
    zazzle.com
    teespring.com
    spreadshirt.com
    shopify.com
    printify.com
    style us brands.com

– set a goal (no of shirts to be ordered before printing starts)
– set the selling price
– print and market the product, based on orders received
– designers set up a shop on the platform
– other designers can sell your shirts i.e cross-promote and sell
– pay designers after successful sales

Designing T-shirts on Teespring

Teespring.com is one such site that is popular for tees.

Upon creating an account you are sent to the designing tool where you add text, change the font, colour, etc; or click ‘art’ to upload your own artwork.

On the right side of the screen, you can also add a few other t-shirt designs like the hood, children’s tees, design for women, etc. Over there you can change the colour or indicate other colours in which the tee can be printed.

A selling price is set as you add designs. You can also choose to add a caption at the back of the shirt or not.

After that move to step 2, set a goal by going through the steps and in step 3 add a description.

After this, promote your tee on your Facebook page and also make some Facebook ads to attract a targeted audience.

  • can be successful with a targeted niche and a few attempts to sell without using ads

Challenges

  • testing and re-testing of Facebook ads requires learning  and practice to succeed
